Language blindspots-

I have to make mention of something that has been secretly hidden over the years, but no one seems to be able to quite put their finger on it.

Many common phrases in English and some other languages also seem to have rather suddenly fallen from use quickly. They were commonly used and repeated just 10-20 years ago? Though somehow people almost suddenly discontinued repeating them. I’ve lived in both Mexico and California so I’ve noticed this lapse of phrases and recent reduced range of common words spoken. How could this be affecting people socially, is yet to be studied. Though I suspect it is increasingly making us agitated, uneasy, accelerated, less compassionate, not as accomodating to one another as before? Well, take a look at what an inquisitive man discovered, and pay attention for yourself….

Where did all the good men go?
You are mentioning that, after the fact.

I wouldn’t be caught dead in those places.
Let’s just leave things at that.
I don’t respond well to threats.
I can’t quite put my finger on it?
In times like these, we have to tighten up our belts.

Look at you.
Put a lid on it. Don’t you get tired of saying that over and over again?
So much flattery we are getting lifted up out of the chair!

“If I have told you once, I’ve told you twice.”

“Here, why don’t you hold onto that, you’re going to need it more than me.”

I am going to give them a piece of my mind, even if it kills me. Good, stay that way.

Here comes a big one: “It takes one to know one”

And another perhaps: “I have just heard about enough out of you, or I am about to lose my nerve with this guy.”

Have you noticed anything missing?

So far in Spanish, “Que no te importa” “Y que te importa?” “No me hagas caso.” “Tan creyente te volviste?” “Vas a ver”
